National Day of Mourning for Bondi Victims - 22 January
On 14 December 2025, Bondi was shaken by a devastating attack that left the local community grieving the loss of several residents and injured many more. On the 22nd of January, a National Day of Mourning will be observed to honour the victims and support their families β marked by moments of silence on beaches and in town centres, floral tributes, and candlelit vigils. Government leaders and community representatives spoke of resilience, unity, and the need for compassionate, practical support for survivors; mentalβhealth services and memorial funds were announced to help with recovery. The day combined solemn remembrance with a pledge to address the causes behind the violence, ensuring the victims' memories guide efforts toward healing and prevention.
